Gym memberships and contracts

Memberships and contracts often renew automatically and may require notice to cancel. The terms are in your agreement, so read them before the end date.

Step by step

  1. Find your agreement

Look for the minimum term, renewal terms, notice period and cancellation method.

  2. Count back the notice period

If 30 days' notice is required, the real deadline is 30 days before the end date.

  3. Cancel the way the contract says

If it requires writing, send it in writing and keep a copy and proof of delivery.

  4. Stop the payments last

Don't just block the card. Cancel the agreement first so you don't end up in collections.

Good to know: Set the reminder for the notice deadline, not the contract end date.
