Hi there,
Internet providers often charge long-time customers more than new ones for the same service. If you haven't looked at your bill in a year, there's a good chance you can pay less.
Before you call
- Find your current price, speed and any equipment rental fee on your last bill.
- Look up what your provider and one competitor charge new customers for similar speed.
- Check whether you actually need your current speed. Many households can step down a tier.
What to say
Ask for the retention or loyalty department, then: "I've been a customer for a while and I'm reviewing my bills. I can get similar service elsewhere for less. Is there a better rate you can offer me to stay?"
If they offer a promotion, ask how long it lasts and get it in writing. Then add a reminder for a month before it ends, so you can ask again.
